Minneriya National Park

Post breakfast, the second day of your tour is scheduled for an excursion to Polonnaruwa, a UNESCO world heritage site. A dominant feature of the city is a vast irrigation lake named Parakrama Samudra. Later in the afternoon, enjoy an exciting safari at Minneriya National Park, where you can watch animals in the wild.

One of the most spectacular wildlife events in Sri Lanka is ‘The Gathering,’ where hundreds of elephants arrive by herd from the surrounding areas to the Minneriya reservoir and quench their thirst for water and play. Further, return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Sigiriya Rock Fortress

Today, after breakfast, pack your belongings and complete the checkout formalities. Then, you will explore the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, dating back to the 5th Century A.D. Thereafter, leave for the hill capital of Kandy en route and visit a spice garden in Matale. Later in the afternoon, visit the Royal Botanic Gardens, renowned for its collection of orchids.

Further, continue with your drive to reach Kandy. Once reached, complete the check-in formalities at the pre-booked hotel and unwind. The evening is reserved for a cultural dance show, where the vibrant costumes and pulsating rhythms of traditional dance forms from centuries-old rituals will enthrall you. Afterward, have dinner and stay overnight at the hotel.

Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage

After breakfast, get ready for a city tour of Kandy, the last kingdom of the Sinhalese. On your way to one of the most sacred sites, the Temple of the Tooth, take in the sights of Upper Lake Drive and Market Square. Pay homage at the temple, as it is believed to house the ‘tooth relic’ of the Lord Buddha. Further, a walk around the town will let you indulge in souvenir hunting with intricate treasures.

Then, pack your belongings, check out from the hotel, and get an assisted transfer to Colombo. En route, visit Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, a caring home for abandoned and wounded elephants. Here, adults and baby elephants from around Sri Lanka thrive, and you can also bottle-feed some baby elephants. After that, continue with your journey towards Colombo. Upon reaching, complete the check-in formalities at the hotel and unwind. Later, have dinner and stay overnight at the hotel.

This is the last day of your Sri Lanka Tour. Wake up, have breakfast, pack your belongings, and complete the checkout formalities. Then, you will get an assisted transfer to Colombo Airport to catch your flight back home.
