Nahargarh Fort  which was originally built in the year 1734 and later extended in 1868. Located in the north of Jaipur, the magnificent fort overlooks the city from the top of a hill. There is a story behind the naming of the fort. It is said that the restless soul of a dead prince named Nahar Singh was creating obstructions during the construction of the fort. Then it was decided that the fort would be named after him to keep his soul calm and complete the construction.

Before the establishment of the city Jaipur, the majestic city Amber was the capital of Rajasthan. Then the two iconic forts Nahargarh fort and Amber fort acted as defensive measures to protect the capital. During 1600, the vibrant capital city Amber was filled with colorful markets and beautiful houses.

 The fort also includes a wax museum housing the wax statue of many famous persons. The fort also includes a temple that was built especially for the restless soul of Nahar Singh to be on rest there.

How to reach Nahargarh Fort from Jaipur City:

The most convenient way to visit Nahargarh Fort Jaipur Rajasthan is to hire a cab from Jaipur. The capital city is only 6 Km away from the fort. You can also take an Auto Rickshaw that goes up to the fort entrance. Also, there are shuttles available from the foot to the hill. To reach the top of the fort, you can either climb the steep that is a 2 Km long breezy way or take a car that will reach the top via Amber area covering 8km round trip.
