How to Reach Sunderban

Sunderban is the largest coastal mangrove on earth which is situated in the heart of West Bengal. The safaris are easily available from Kolkata to the Sunderban. There are no direct flights to the Sunderbans. The Netaji Subhash Chandra International Airport, Kolkata is the closest airport to the Sunderbans. This airport is 129 km far away from the Sunderban National Park. This international airport is well-connected to all the major states and cities of India via regular flights like GoAir, IndiGo, AirAsia, SpiceJet, etc. From here, the visitors can hire cabs or taxis to reach the nearest jetty of the Sunderbans which can take around three hours to reach there.

The Sunderbans are well-attached to neighboring cities of West Bengal through a good network of roads. People can choose a car or bus till Godkhali (49 km), Sonakhali (100 km), Raidighi (76 km), Namkhana (105 km), Najat (92 km), or Canning (48 km) and then proceed up to this national park via motorboats.

Here, the travelers can reach the Sunderban National Park through Canning by boarding one of the regular local trains which are running between Kolkata and Canning.
