Rudra Dhari Waterfalls, Kausani

The Rudradhari waterfalls are situated at the Kausani-Almora Road, 12 km away from Kausani. It is believed that this place is associated with the Bhagavat Siva (Rudra) and Lord Vishnu (Hari). The Shiva temple at Somesvara is close to this fall. The Rudradhari waterfalls are situated at an elevation of 1555 meters above the sea level. 

Rudradhari waterfalls in Kausani is located at a place with terraced fields, lush green paddy fields and thick jungles of pine trees. The water is flowing in the form of a river at a vertical drop. To reach the waterfalls you will have to trek on the Adi Kailash trail. As you trek along the trail to the Adi Kailash region this wonderful waterfall is visible in the hill station of Kausani. The Rudhadhari waterfalls are a natural lure there and several ancient caves can be seen in the nearby hills. The waterfalls intruding the valley streams from there in the form of small springs and rivers. There are ancient stories relating to the waterfalls to Lord Shiva (Rudra) and Lord Vishnu (Hari). The caves are naturally formed and very remarkable. 

On the way, there are ancient caves that have not been explored near the Rudradhari waterfalls. Close to the waterfalls you can also visit a small temple named Someshwar temple. In this temple, Lord Shiva (Rudra) and Lord Vishnu (Hari) are worshiped. According to the devotees, it is believed that the caves are associated with Lord Shiva also called Rudra and Hari is the other name for Lord Vishnu. The caves are situated amid lush green hills and a natural atmosphere everywhere. The caves are located at a distance of 10 km from the city bus stop. 

The best time to visit the Rudradhari waterfalls is from the months between May and September, also December to January is considered ideal to visit. Tourists can see the falls all in its full glory from close quarters. If you are fond of monsoon then you can visit the Rudradhari waterfalls from July to August. However, during the summers visiting the falls should be avoided.

Rudradhari Falls is at a distance of 2 km from the Kantali village road which is at a distance of 12 km from the Kausani town. You can reach the Rudradhari Waterfalls by renting a cab from the Kausani town to the Kantali village and from there you will have to trek for 2 km. The nearest railway station is the Kathgodam station at a distance of 142 km. Pantnagar and IGI Delhi are the nearest airports in the vicinity.
