The Sankat Mochan Temple Varanasi is a very beautiful and majestic temple of the city. This temple is also known as the monkey temple because the number of monkeys around this temple is very large. The temple is situated in the south of Varanasi city and nearby the Assi Ghat. As the name of the temple, it relieves the woes of the devotees.

The temple otherwise called the Sankat Mochan Mandir Varanasi and it was established by Indian Independence figure Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya in the 1900s. On the auspicious day of Hanuman Jayanti, there is a celebration in the Banaras Sankat Mochan Mandir. People celebrate this festival with great vigor and zeal. A large number of tourists visit there during this occasion. In this temple, there is an idol of Lord Hanuman installed in front of Shri Ram, which is a unique thing from the other Hanuman temples.

There is an ancient pond on the premises of the Sankat Mochan temple Varanasi, many people are not aware of this. Each year in the month of April, the temple organizes a classical music festival here. In Sankat Mochan Sangeet Samaroh, a large number of musicians and performers arrive from all over the country. This festival started 88 years ago and invites various famous artists.
