Udaipur is popularly known as ‘City of Lakes’ as it is a home to many pristine lakes, but none of them matches the splendor of the Fateh Sagar Lake.

Fateh Sagar Lake History:

This lake was built in 1888 by the great Maharana Fateh Singh, he built an 800-meter long dam to protect the lake from floods. Hence to honor the Maharaja for his generosity the lake was named after him.The Fateh Sagar Lake has three small islands.

Fateh Sagar Lake Attractions:

Nehru Park is built on the largest island. Nehru Park is a paradise for nature lovers, this lush green garden offers a picturesque view of the lake. The park even accommodates a small zoo where you can hear chirping birds and spot few species of animals. The second largest Island of the Fateh Sagar Lake houses the most wonderful landmark, the jet water mountain. The Jet water mountain spray thousands of liters of water during the evening is a magnificent sight which you will cherish for the rest of your life.

For those of you who love observing sun, there is the Udaipur Solar Observatory. Inspired by the Big Lake observatory in the U.S.A, this solar observatory is an astronomer’s dream. With the help of variety of telescope they take solar observations. It is best solar observing site in Asia. This observatory is situated on an island in the lake and it offers a majestic view of the lake.

Under the Sun” is an aquarium in the Fatehsagar Lake. 200 species of fishes adorn this beautiful aquarium. The aquarium is open on all days of the week from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The Connaught Bund Dam is one of the finest specimens of dam engineering. The dam was originally named as Stone Dam but it was inaugurated by the Duke of Connaught so it is populary known as Connaught Bund Dam. You will be thrilled see the workings of this dam which was built more than 100 years ago by “Gajdhars” who were the local engineers. The dam is still in working condition even after all these years, this fact is enough to show the prowess of Indian engineers of that era.  You can visit the Marana Pratap Memorial which has a life-size statue of the Brave warrior on his favorite horse Chetak. It is perched on the Pearl Hill and constructed in the memory of the brave king.

Rajiv Gandhi Garden is another worthwhile place to visit. This alluring garden offers a lush greenery and a perfect place for picnickers. The food court in the garden serves authentic Rajasthani cuisines.

The Fatehsagar lake of Udaipur, Rajasthan is open on all days of the week from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. While you can choose to enjoy the cool winds near the lakeshore. The best way to enjoy the mesmerizing beauty of this lake is by taking a boat ride. Enjoy the view of the lush green mountains of Rajasthan from the middle of the lake is something which cannot be describe into the words.

Fateh Sagar Lake Boat Ticket Fee:

If you are an adventure freak, then you have the option of enjoying the speedboat ride. The ticket fee for the normal boat are INR 15-30 for Indian citizens, while INR 60-125 for foreigners.

Fateh Sagar Lake Speed Boat Ride Fee:

While the tickets for the Speed boat ride are INR 200 For Adults and 100 for Children with the ride lasting for 30 minutes.
