Amer Fort  Jaipur which is one of the most astonishing tourist destinations not just in Jaipur City but in the whole of a Rajasthan. This fort is situated on the Cheel Ka Teela on the Aravalli Hills. So, one can undertake a trekking trip to the surrounding hills. The Amber Fort was mainly used for the residence purpose by the royal families. Even, it is the home to some of the underground tunnels that connect this fort to the Jaigarh Fort.

Amber Fort History:

The Amber Palace, India was constructed by the Raja Man Singh I who is one of the Navaratnas of Emperor Akbar. This palace has an amazing combination of the Hindu and Mughal architectural styles. This fort is built with white marble, pink and pale yellow sandstone.

Amber Fort is considered as one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. This magnificent fort got its name from Goddess Ambe and its prime deity is Meena dynasty. The Amer Fort contains four levels that are graced with their courtyards. Furthermore, it consists of main complexes such as Diwan-e-Khas – a hall for private audience, Diwan-e-Aam – a hall for public audience where the kings had listened to the queries of common men, the Sukh Niwas – a complex which had natural air conditioning due to the wind which blew across a water area built within the premises, the Mirror Palace or Sheesh Mahal– contains colored glasses and mirror mosaics all over, and the Jai Mandir. In addition to it, Kesar Kyaari is a Mughal Garden. It is located on the Maota Lake and is formed in a star shape. It is believed that the saffron flowers were planted in this garden. Also, the view of Maota Lake looks splendid from the Amer Fort.

Apart from this, the most popular attraction of this fort is the ‘Magic Flower’ that is carved on a marble panel on the pillar of the Sheesh Mahal. Here, seven delightful designs are carved on it including lion’s tail, hooded cobra, a lotus, an elephant, trunk, scorpion, cob or corn, and fishtail. Tourists can also indulge in some artwork and handicraft shopping at the local shops and stalls in Amer town.

Distance from Jaipur City:

This fort is around 11 km from the main city. One can reach there through auto-rickshaws, public buses, cars, or taxis. But this fort is perched on a hill so tourists can either walk or take an elephant ride. So, the costing for Amber Fort Elephant Ride is 900 INR for two persons. People will love to experience this thrilling ride at the fort.
