Arthur seat in Mahabaleshwar is one of the most beautiful places of this hill station in Maharashtra. The view from the Arthur seat is awe-inspiring where you can see the picturesque beauty, majestic peaks. It is built at an altitude of 1470 meters and beautiful strawberry farms.
Arthur seat or the Suicide Point is also called the Queen of all points. This place is named after Arthur Malet who lost his wife and daughter when they were drowned in the Savitri River. Arthur used to sit there and gazed for hours at the river and hence the place was named Arthur Seat. From here the Brahma-Aranya and Savitri river’s thick valleys can be seen in the most spectacular and fascinating form. From here, if you go upstairs, you can see a window point and Tiger Spring. Arthur Seat is the only place that provides a geographic contrast between the Deccan and Konkan territories. Take a guide with you as the trek trail becomes quite confusing many times. Arthur Seat is a great place for trekking and the trekkers love visiting this place.
There are two trek routes to reach up there. One of them starts from the Dhawale and the other starts from the Shelarwadi, which lies 15 to 20 minutes from the Dhawale. The route passes through a dense forest and the steep climbs. One day is sufficient to complete the whole journey, while it can suitably spread over two days if someone wishes to do camping. There is no hotel or resort up there, camping is the only option left.
