According to the priest of the temple, the description of this temple is found in the Avanti section of Skanda Purana. According to which only Lord Mahakal of Ujjain appointed Kaal Bhairav to protect the city at this place. Therefore, Kaal Bhairav is also called the Kotwal of the city. Nearly a decade ago, construction work was done on the outside to strengthen the temple building. Around 12-12 feet deep was excavated around the temple for this construction. The purpose of this excavation was to renovate the temple, but many people used to reach here to see this excavation. Everyone wanted to know where the wine goes when Kalabhairav consumes alcohol. To calm this curiosity, many people came during the excavation work, but nothing was found in the excavation, which could solve this question of the people.
