Best Time to Visit Khajuraho

Summer Season (March to June):

Sightseeing around Khajuraho requires a lot of walking so it cannot be the best time to visit during this season. Although the temperature in Khajuraho during morning and evening remains bearable, the months between April till June are best avoided. Summer season is a harsh time. The temperatures soar up to 35°C (95°F) around this time of the year. You can still plan a visit to the Khajuraho and explore the majestic beauty of these architectural marvels. It is advisable to carry cotton clothes, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a water bottle with you.

Winter Season (October to February):

The best time to visit Khajuraho is undoubted during winters. During this time of the year, people from across the globe come to explore the temple complex. Khajuraho tourism also organizes many events to keep tourists engaged in events and fairs like the Khajuraho dance festival. To see this annual festival, you can come to the town during the first week of February, between 1st and 7th. This is the peak season so you should expect a footfall of tourists rushing from everywhere. Carry woolens, jackets, cap, and moisturizer with you.

Monsoon Season (July to September):

The wet season in India can make staying outdoors difficult and makes it very hard to explore the city during the rain. Otherwise, the city looks beautiful and lush greenery of the places looks mesmerizing. However, since monsoon is an off-peak tourist period, you can expect a budget trip happening. Monsoon in Khajuraho starts from July and it stretches till September. Though you can still experience the harsh sun from the summer months, the rains help subsides the heat. It is recommendable to carry an umbrella and raincoat with you.
