Construction of the Shanti Stupa Leh
The idea of building Shanti Stupa was by Japanese monk Nichidatsu Fuji. He wanted to bring Buddhism back to India and that is why he started the establishment of Shanti Pagoda from here. Shanti Stupa made Leh come alive. Shanti Stupa is authorized by Japanese and Buddhist monks of Ladakh, Gyomo Nakamura, and Kushok Bakula. This magnificent stupa was constructed between 1983 and 1984 during Indira Gandhi's government. Roadways were also built to reach the Shanti Stupa Leh.
Based on the stupa, the present Dalai Lama has a picture and some Buddhist artifacts remain. The main statue of Buddhist remains in the circle of religion, namely, the cycle of religion.
