Despite the fact that the village has a bus/taxi stand, a market, a center where the tourists are received and Leh's only petrol station (1 kilometer toward North) yet tourists love to visit the Diskit Village to see the monastery. Dosmoche festival is celebrated in the gompa which consists of a Maitreya Buddha statue. Along with the pictures of the fierce guardian deities, there are drums, paintings and other worth-seeing things inside the premises. The Monastery has around 100 monks residing in the premises. There is an Internet Café also in the town.

Diskit Village is situated in the Nubra Valley and during the summer season, the region is easily accessible. People can hire a taxi or cab from Leh and reach there. One can also catch a bus from Leh Bus Stand and get down at Diskit. The nearest airport is the Leh Airport which is located at 110 km and it will take almost 4 hours to reach there.

The best time to visit Diskit is during the summer season when the region experiences the balmy weather during the day time. The region is accessible during summers and in winters it is very difficult to reach due to the heavy snowfall at the Khardung La.
