About 13 km away from Munnar, Mattupetty Dam is situated which is a concrete gravity dam. This dam was established during the 1949 and 1953 for the conservation of water and the hydroelectricity generation. Being enclosed upon an altitude of 1700 m from the sea level, Mattupetty Dam Munnar is currently shining as an important source of electricity and earns hefty income for the state of Kerala.

The District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC), Idukki offers boating facilities, speed launch, slow speedboat and motorboats on hire.

The trekking in this forest will allow you to explore a wide array of flora and fauna of the region.
