Around 20 km from Munnar and half an hour drive away, on the Coimbatore route there is a divine lake situated which is famously known as Kundala Lake. Surrounded by lush green meadows, lofty woods, picturesque tea gardens, and scenic views, there is the Kundala Lake. The environs of the lake is a serene habitat guaranteed to uplift your spirits.

Besides, the blue hues of the Neelakurinji blossoms that bloom once in 12 years, tinge the area blue, making it a veritable paradise on Earth.

Kundala Lake in Munnar, Kerala, has many attractions for people who wish to enjoy the activities. Horse riding around the lake or boating on a Shikara is one of the few entertaining activities which one can enjoy with family, children, and groups. Take a rowboat for two or a pedal boat if you have the energy and make a slow tour around the lake for a romantic interlude. 

At one end of the lake stands the Sethu Parvathi Dam, a famous dam built in 1946 and Asia’s first Arch dam with an interesting history. The area is famous for cherry trees that blossom twice a year making the region breathtakingly pretty. 

Avoid the monsoon months of July to September, during that time one cannot enjoy boating in the lake. You can visit the Kundala Lake throughout the year. The time just after the monsoon would be the best time to visit to catch the glimpses of flowers and trees in full bloom. 

Other famous attractions at Kundala are the Tata Tea owned Golf course, the Aruvikkad waterfalls and the Pallivasal hydroelectric project with the Sethu Parvathi Dam. To get there, Kottayam or Ernakulam are the nearest airports. Kundala Lake is well connected by road from Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
