How to Reach Munnar

By Air By Air

Munnar does not have an airport. The two nearest airports are the Kochi International Airport (110 km by road) and the Madurai International Airport (140 km by road). Both airports are well served by major airlines. From both Cochin and Madurai, state transport and private bus services are available for the continuing journey to Munnar. In addition, one can also hire a pre-paid cab from the airport kiosks.

By Road By Road

Munnar is situated at a distance of about 130 km from Kochi, along the National Highway 49 and the road trip is about 4.5 hours. You can enjoy the panoramic view of the majestic Western Ghats.

Munnar is roughly situated at a distance of 153 km from Madurai and 160 km from Coimbatore. You can hire a cab/taxi or take a bus to Munnar. Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) provides bus services to Munnar from all the major cities in Kerala.

By Rai By Rail

Munnar is also not directly approachable by rail. The nearest railway station from Munnar is at Aluva, located at a distance of 110 km. The Ernakulam Railway Station is 130 km away, while the Madurai Railway Station is at a distance of 135 km. Some of the most popular train routes are Malabar Express, Guwahati-Trivandrum Express, Howrah-Kanyakumari Express, Mumbai-Madurai Express, Chandigarh-Madurai express, etc. From these railway stations, you can opt for the state-run/private bus services or rent a taxi.
