Munnar is situated at a distance of about 130 km from Kochi, along the National Highway 49 and the road trip is about 4.5 hours. The beautiful scenic route traverses the towns of Kothamangalam and Adimali en route to Munnar. The route between these two towns is through a thick green forest with gushing waterfalls which makes for an unbelievable experience.
From Adimali as the car enters the final stretch of the journey to Munnar, one is greeted by the spectacular sights of tea plantations bordering the road; and a panoramic view of the majestic Western Ghats.
Munnar is roughly at a distance of 153 km from Madurai. The most popular and picturesque route is Madurai- Theni - Bodi – BodiMettu - Devikulam - Munnar, traveling along NH 49.
Munnar is at a distance of about 160 km from Coimbatore and the journey can be covered in 4 hours. The route is along Coimbatore- Pollachi - Udumalapet - Chinnar - Munnar.
The stretch between Pollachi and Udumalapet is bordered with large windmill farms which make for an exquisite sight. The lush greenery all around is a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Since the roads to Munnar are generally narrow with many bends and curves, one must be extremely cautious while driving.
Being a busy industrial city, the railway station of Kochi is well connected with all major railheads of the country such as Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, and many more. The main and nearest railway station to Cochin is the Ernakulam Junction Station and it is one of the busiest railway stations in South India.
There is also another station named Ernakulam Town Station where you can get trains to and from Cochin.
Being a port city, one can avail waterway to reach Kochi. You can reach Cochin via ship or yacht from destinations like Mumbai, Goa, Colombo, Lakshadweep Island, and Male.
Regular boat services from Kottayam, Kumarakom and Alleppey have made traveling to Kochi easier. The best part about this travel is the beautiful scenic beauty that one will witness during the journey.
