Itinerary Details

Board a flight from Delhi to reach the Bagdogra Airport in West Bengal. On arrival, get an on-road transfer to Darjeeling (around 3 hours' drive). Once you reach the hill town, complete the check-in formalities at your hotel. The day is free for leisure activities. Explore the nearby surroundings on foot or interact with the locals. Once the summer home of the British Governor, Darjeeling is one of the prime hill stations in India. The serene ancient monasteries, green tea plantations, and a toy train ride are the prime attraction in Darjeeling. Walk to Mall Road to explore the Bhutia Market and Tibetan Market on your own.

Return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Get up before dawn as you are going to visit Tiger Hill. This high-point offers the best views of the sunrise. From here, you can enjoy the panoramic views of both Mount Everest and Mount Kanchenjunga. Stay a while after which you return to your hotel. Next, you visit the Ghoom Monastery.

Have your breakfast, after which you will board the very popular toy train. Enjoy the train ride passing through the beautiful mountain scenery up to Ghoom Monastery. The 15 feet-high statue of the Maitreya Buddha is the prime attraction of the Ghoom Monastery. In the afternoon, go for sightseeing of the Tibetan Refugee Centre and the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. The Tibetan Refugee Centre became the home to Dalai Lama and his followers when they escaped from China in 1959.

Have your breakfast and start driving to Pelling. On arrival, complete the check-in formalities at your pre-booked hotel. Enjoy the appetizing lunch and proceed to explore Pemayangtse Monastery. This is the oldest Buddhist monastery in Sikkim, originally constructed during the 17th-century. Explore the beautiful wall paintings, sculptures and the gold-plated statue of Guru Padmasambhava in the monastery.

Start the day with a healthy breakfast after which you will begin your road journey to Gangtok. On arrival, check-in at your pre-booked hotel. Enjoy lunch and proceed to visit the popular attractions in Gangtok. The first stop is the Directorate of Handicraft & Handloom. The other places to visit are Enchey Monastery, Research Institute of Tibetology, Chorten and the world-famous Rumtek Monastery. Also known as Dharmachakra Centre, the Rumtek Monastery is one of the most significant gompas and is a great example of Tibetan architecture.

Today morning, as you finish your breakfast, get an assisted transfer to Lachung by road (117 km). En-route, halt at Kabi Longtsok to admire the scenic beauty. This charming place also holds a historical significance as this the place where the "Treaty of Blood Brotherhood" was signed between Lepcha and Bhutia. The Naga Waterfalls offers amazing fun activities. The Holy Rock at Chungthang, a small village is a perfect sacred spot for the Buddhist devotees. Halt the journey for lunch. On arrival in Lachung, complete the check-in at your hotel and if time and energy permits, you can go to explore the nearby attractions and markets on your own.

After breakfast, leave for a day trip to Yumthang Valley. The remarkable valley is snuggled in the lap of the majestic Himalayan Mountains. It is also nicknamed as 'Valley of Flowers'. The heavenly beauty remains covered with the carpet of blooms of all shades during the blooming season. Indulge in hiking and other adventure activities like zorbing here.

After the well-spent day return to Lachung hotel for an overnight stay.

Start the day 7 of your Bhutan and Northeast itinerary with a crunchy breakfast. Then get transferred to Gangtok by road. On your way enjoy the majestic view of Kanchendzonga from Singhik Point. Make a halt at the Phodang Monastery for a visit. Rebuilt during the 18th-century, Phodang is home to around 250 monks at present. Upon reaching, check-in at your hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure. You can go out to explore the surroundings, meet the locals or for a shopping spree on your own.

After breakfast, drive to Phuentsholing, a town on the border of the southern part of Bhutan. Enjoy a scenic drive to travel to Bhutan from India. On arrival, check-in at your hotel. The rest of the day has to be spent at leisure. Opt for activities of your interest. You can go for sightseeing or interact with the locals. This beautiful and unexplored land offers a perfect mix of traditional and modern life and culture.

After breakfast, get an assisted transfer to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. On arrival, check-in at your pre-booked hotel. Spend the day at leisure. Admire the natural beauty, observe the lifestyle of the locals of Bhutan and interact with them. Thimphu is the picture of a combined lifestyle of the old and new. Till a few years ago, vehicle traffic was an unheard word here. In the streets of Thimphu, you will notice people in traditional dress and camera-wielding tourists. Bhutan is the only country where the Gove Ministers walk in the street with common people without any security personal. Here, the health minister himself is a renowned doctor who attends the patients during the weekend. Such is the aura of this place.

Stay overnight at the hotel.

After breakfast start with the sightseeing tour. First, you will visit the National Library which hosts a vast collection of ancient Buddhist manuscripts. Make a stop at the School of Thangka paintings and the Traditional Medicine Institute. Drive past the Trashi Chhodzong, where the administrative headquarters of ministries are located.

Enjoy a traditional lunch at one of the restaurants in the town. After your meal, you can drive to Dochula, which is around 23 km from Thimphu. On days of perfect weather, the snow-capped peaks can be easily spotted. Mt. Gangkar Puensum, Table Mountain, Jeje Khang, Masakhang and Gangcheyta are some of the wonderful sights from here.

Return to your hotel for dinner and night stay.

After breakfast, drive to Paro. Check-in at your hotel. After a while of rest, begin your sightseeing town. Known as a sacred city, Paro is home to the only international airport in the country. The first stop for the day is at Drukgyal Dzong. There you will explore the remains of a fortress and Buddhist monastery built-in 1649 to commemorate the victory over an invasion from Tibet. En-route, admire the many local houses built-in traditional styles. The view of the famous Taktsang Monastery is also seen during your journey. Halt for lunch after which you continue with sightseeing of the attractions. Visit the National Museum or Ta Dzong which has a fine collection of Thangkha paintings, weapons and artifacts. Next, take a short walk to Rinpung Dzong, the administrative headquarter of Paro district.

Return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

After breakfast day excursion to the most famous of Bhutanese Monastries, Taktsang Monastery. This excursion takes 5 hrs for a round trip. This monastery is renowned as "Tiger's Nest". This monastery gets its name due to the fact that Guru Rinpoche traveled from Tibet to Taktsang on the back of a tigress and meditated here. While returning to Paro also visit one of the most sacred shrines of Bhutan, Kyichu Lhakhang. Stay overnight at Paro hotel.

Today is the last day of your Bhutan trip from India. Get transferred to Paro Airport to board a flight to Delhi. Arrive in Delhi and then board a flight for onward destination. Return home with the wonderful memories of North East India with Bhutan tour.
