Hotels in Mysore

Located at the foothills of the Chamundi Hills, Mysore is the third largest city of the South Indian state of Karnataka. Popular as the cultural capital of Karnataka, it is known for its lavish Dusshera celebrations all around the world. The historic seat of the Wodeyar rulers, the city is also famous for its pleasant climate and its rich past. Also known as the Amba Vilas Palace, it is the official residence of the Wodeyars. An amazing example of Indo-Saracen architecture, the structure is known for its spacious halls or Mantaps, its beautiful décor and its paintings. It was originally built during the 14th century.

Another attraction is Daria Daulat Bagh. An Indo-Islamic structure, built in teak, Daria Daulat Bagh is the summer palace of Tipu Sultan. Constructed in 1784, this wooden palace is built amidst manicured lawns and colourful flowers. The detailed interior and the amazing painting walls are prime attractions for the tourists. This beautiful palace is a 2-storied structure.

One of the prime tourist attractions in Mysore, the Brindavan Garden was erected during the reign of Krishnaraja Wodeyar. The garden is constructed below the Krishnarajasagar dam, across the River Cauvery. Along with flowers and colourful flowers, one of the major attractions here is the colourful musical fountain.

Mysore Zoo is also a must-visit attraction, which is home to a vast variety of animals. The outdoor stage with the Chamundi Hills in the background is also a prime attraction here. Also known as Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Garden, it was founded in 1982 under royal patronage.
