Mahal Khas Palace, Bharatpur

Lohagarh Fort, Maharaja Surajmal Road, Bharatpur, Rajasthan

Now converted into a Heritage Hotel, the Mahal Khas Palace was built by Maharaja Balwant Singh the former king of Bharatpur in 1826. Contrasting distinctly with the entire Lohagarh Fort, the palace possesses some impressive wall paintings, two huge courtyards adorned with elegant statues and carvings on sandstone.

Each room has beautifully designed marble tiled floors and arches with small fine pierced windows. Located within the complex of the Lohagarh Fort in the heart of Bharatpur, the Mahal Khas Palace is approximately 56 km from the Agra Airport, 2.5 km from the Bharatpur Railway Station, and 3 km from the Bharatpur Bus Stand.

Standing solidly in the face of many British attacks and frosted them to ends, the Lohagarh Fort proved the truth of its name. The British invaded the fort four times before they lost all hope and had withdrawn the attack. During British rule, the state had an area of 5,123 sq. km with its rulers enjoying a 17-guns salute. The state became a part of the domination of India in 1947A.D.

Mahal Khas Palace includes a restaurant, free private parking, a bar, and a garden. The heritage hotel offers a 24-hour front desk and currency exchange facility for guests. The palace is at a 6-minute walking distance from Ganga Mandir temple and 9 km from Keoladeo National Park.

Resting in the middle of Lohagarh Fort, the Mahal Khas palace reflects a fine blend of Mughal and Rajput architecture built by Maharaja Balwant Singh in 1826. It acted as the residence of the royal family of Bharatpur up to 1965. Now it has been converted into a heritage hotel. A huge courtyard, impressive wall paintings and exquisite carvings on sandstone offers the palace an exceptionally beautiful look.

Furnished with dark wooden furniture and ornate stone windows, the elegant rooms and suites have TVs, Wi-Fi, and balconies, as well the attached bathrooms. Some have 4-poster beds, whirlpool tubs, and plush furnishings, while suites include separate living areas.

All 12 rooms are equipped with stylish stone decorated windows and have all modern amenities. The stay at Mahal Khas Palace will give you the feel of the royal era. All guest rooms in the hotel include a seating area and a wardrobe. Featuring a decorated terrace, the palace turned hotel has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a private bathroom. Mahal Khas Palace offers continental and buffet breakfast options every morning.

Royalty reflects in every part of Mahal Khas Palace Bharatpur and its dining area is not an exception. The beautifully decorated dining area includes a multi-cuisine restaurant offering a wide range of Indian and continental dishes. In its fine dining restaurant, you can taste Indian, continental and Chinese food. Feel the royal ambiance while you satiate your hunger with a delicious meal sitting in the spacious dining hall decorated with intricate wooden furniture.
