Laxmi Niwas Palace Bikaner

Dr. Karni Singhji Road, Bikaner- 334001, Rajasthan, India

Once a poet had beautifully written, “If ever beauty has bloomed in a desert, it has been at Bikaner”. Situated in the north-western part of the Indian state of Rajasthan, Bikaner was founded in 1488 AD by Rao Bika Ji. Many folklores and myths have been woven around this city of camels.

The Junagarh Fort, Lalgarh Palace, old Havelis and unique Red Temple are some of the bearers of the reminiscences of bygone era in Bikaner. Bearing the old charm and allure of Bikaner, the Laxmi Niwas Palace hotel is among the top notch lodges in the city.

Built in the Indo-Saracenic style, this palace has a history more than 100 years old. Sir Swinton Jacob, the then Chief Engineer of Jaipur state turned Maharaja Ganga Singhji’s vision into a reality in the form of Laxmi Niwas Palace.

The marble courtyard, bravura halls, anterooms, colonnaded corridors, canopied balconies decorated with intricate gold works, lattice work in stone and wood create an aesthetic ambience in the palace. Without disturbing the old architecture, some parts of the hotel had been modernized to make it all the more a pleasant to its guests.

In Laxmi Niwas Palace, there are 42 palatial rooms each of which tells a different story. The use of extreme mastery in the detailing of each room makes its guests lose their heart after entering the rooms. The juxtaposition of medieval architectural forms with the presentation of modern facilities gives each room the mark of ‘perfection’.

The designs and colors used in the curtains, cushions, furniture, walls and floor seem to complement each other in a royal manner. As the morning rays enter the heritage rooms in the palace, every corner of it sprinkles with a bright aura. The big chandeliers on the ceiling and the portraits of the forerunners of the palace give you a feel to be in a royal epoch.

Indian cuisines are famous worldwide for their spicy taste and colorful presentation. A lunch or dinner served in royal Indian style in the palace restaurants will make you enjoy dynamism of Indian food specialties along with some of the tastefully chosen continental dishes. Moreover, a delicate glass of wine in the beguiling ambience of the hotel bar is going to make your stay all the more romantic and lively.
