Overview

Settled approximately 36 km away from the main town Darjeeling, Glenburn Tea Estate is one of the amazing little plantations, settled on a hill, above the banks of River Rungeet.  A great reason to visit this tea estate is you can enjoy spectacular views of mountain range, Kanchenjunga, the third highest peak.

Originally Glenburn was started by a Scottish company, today the main owner of the property is ‘The Prakashes’, the well-known ‘tea-planters’ or ‘Chaiwala family’.  Blessed with enchanting lush greenery, Glenburn is itself a paradise for nature and tea lovers. Put up in such a tranquil ambience, the resort is best for those who are looking for some peaceful moments and memories.

The resort is well-equipped with all basic requirements and boasts of amazing housing spaces. There are two bungalows followed by a number bed rooms arranged in different themes with different names. Apart from just supreme accommodations, the resort is also a hub for leisure trails as well. One can go on short trips to the hilly terrains of Darjeeling.


Accommodation

Bungalows

The beautiful resort Glenburn Tea Estate comes with great housing spaces and more to relax. There are two bungalows namely Burra Bungalow (home to generations of planters) - the bungalow has four bedrooms with different names and different themes. The suites are well-arranged with all amenities including walk-in shower and private entrances to the main verandah, behind the bungalow. You can have wonderful views of mountains from front of Verandah; and Water Lily Bungalow- which again constitutes of four bedrooms. The best part of this bungalow is the direct views of mountains and private balconies sharing harmony with serene surrounding. The bungalow owns small dining sections, living room, two verandahs and garden areas. Water lily also features a large recreation, meeting room, massage room and steam room.

Kanchenjunga Suite

Kanchenjunga suite presents attractive views of Kanchenjunga, the third highest peak; not directly from the room, but from the front verandah. The suite comes with cool blue and white Toile de Jouy furnishings and king sized beds.

In-addition, there is a queen suite and an adjoining room too, which makes it a perfect family suite. The location of the suite is best to enjoy some serene moments.

Some of the facilities Kanchenjunga suite offers you are hot and cold water supply, overhead fans, hair driers, electric blankets, hot water bottles, hand embroidered bed-linen, baskets of fresh fruits, vases of flowers from the garden and private washrooms with old-fashioned bath tubs, well-fitted with hand- showers, walk-in rain shower and Darjeeling green tea toiletries.

The Planter’s Suite

The Planter’s Suite marks the old world charm taking you back to the days of East India Company and other trips of discovery. Well-facilitated with all basic amenities, the suite boasts of Toile de Juoy furnishings and well-fitted warm fire-places. You can also enjoy magnificent views of Simbong valley by stepping out into your garden area. There is also a private sit-out section which has an extra bed and separate access to the washroom. 

The suite provides a number of facilities including hair driers, electric blankets, hot water bottles, hot/cold water supply, hand embroidered bed linen, vases of fresh flowers, baskets of fresh fruits and overhead fans. Washroom too is well-maintained with a walk-in shower along with Darjeeling green tea toiletries.

The Rose Suite

As the name suggests you, the Rose suite is praise to the pristine and forever beauty of rose. Whether it is a painting, bed sheet, drapery or furniture, all are sumptuously adorned with roses (deigns). The suite has a separate sit-out, garden area and direct access to the main verandah.

The basic facilities that Rose suite offers  you are electric blankets, hair driers, hot water bottles, hand embroidered bed linen, baskets of fresh fruits, beautiful vases of fresh flowers, overhead fans and hot/cold water supply and private bathroom with  old-fashioned bath tub, fitted with hand shower, walk-in rain shower along with Darjeeling green tea toiletries.

The Simbong Butterfly Room

Just like that of the Rose Suite, the Simbong Butterfly room also styles its four poster bed in butterfly designs. The room overlooks the Simbong Tea Division of Glenburn and offer direct view of amazing sunrise. Though, the room is small as compared to other rooms, but it is well-facilitated with warm fir places, private sit-outs and direct access to the main living room and garden. The fully-furnished room also constitutes of a number of facilities including hot and cold water supply, overhead fans, hair driers, electric blankets, hot water bottles, hand embroidered bed-linen, baskets of fresh fruits, vases of flowers from the garden. The en suite washroom comprises of a free-standing bath tub and walk- in shower.

The Camellia Room

Step-out onto to your balcony to have awe- inspiring views of Kanchenjunga, hills of Sikkim and river valleys below. Gracefully designed in Camelia thea Botanical print, the Camellia room boasts of antique single beds and personal cupboards. The bay window sit-out is perfect to enjoy a cup of coffee in tranquil ambience.

The Rangeet Suite

With gorgeous view of snow-capped peaks and lush farms (cultivated by the water of River Rangeet), the Rangeet suite comes up with a sit-out section and a private small balcony. It is a double suite that provides you proper comfort and ease. The facilities offered by the room are hot/cold water supply, hot water bottles, overhead fans, vases of fresh flowers, hair driers and electric blankets.  There is a private washroom too that provides you old-fashioned bath tub, walk-in rain shower and Darjeeling green tea toiletries.  

The Rung Dung Suite

Enjoy direct views of Kanchenjunga from the Rung Dung suite. The suite features four-poster bed and antique furniture taking you back to the colonial era. Adore the picturesque surrounding from spacious sit-out. The suite also serves comfortable housing space for third person. The two private balconies also offer some wonderful views of town Darjeeling.

The Rung Dung Suite is fully-equipped with al basic requirements including Hot water supply, hair driers, electric blanket, basket of fresh fruits, and a washroom well-set with bath tub, walk-in rain shower and Darjeeling green tea toiletries.

The Singalila Suite

The Singalila suite is totally surrounded by Singalila range, as the name suggest, with Mount Kanchenjunga towering to it. The suite is designed in such a way to provide you direct view of rising sun.  There are two small balconies from where you can look up to the town of Darjeeling and its enchanting green tea farms.

Like all other suites, the Singalila suite is also fully furnished and has all facilities including electric blankets, hair driers, hot water bottles, hand embroidered bed linen, baskets of fresh fruits, beautiful vases of fresh flowers, overhead fans, hot/cold water supply and private washroom with old-fashioned bath tub, fitted with hand shower, walk-in rain shower along with Darjeeling green tea toiletries. 

Dining

Like the comfortable housing, Glenburn Tea Estate has also taken a good care in dining options for its customers. Mouth-watering cuisines are served according to the choice of each guest. The resort menu comprises of Indian dishes, South-East Asian delicacies and European dishes. Not only the delicious food, but Glenburn also serves you famous Glenburn tea, iced-tea and herbal teas.

Barbeques can also be arranged at the Simbong garden terrace. Special dining is set-up at the dining room with lit- candles making ambience look more appealing. Separate dining can also be arranged, as you choose to. You can also order the food according to your dietary chart.

Health & Recreation

Apart from comfort and luxury quotient, Glenburn also provides some entertaining activities including sightseeing tours to nearby attractions and places of interest. Either you can spend your day relaxing in your private verandah with a book and cup of coffee or go out for some thrilling activities. The sightseeing tour includes visit to Tea Factory; to understand tea brewing steps, Darjeeling town and Kalimpong.

If you are an adventure enthusiast then you may opt for Glenburn Lodge and Campsite. The lodge features all important necessities and comfortable spaces for two families. Also, you can go for a day hike to Suspension Bridge to Manjitar, Sikkim, river Rung Dung and Ramitay Dara.
