Early morning witness Abhishekam, Trek downwards from Kedarnath to Sonprayag. Overnight stay at Rudraprayag or Guptkashi. Depart for Badrinath via Joshimath. Visit Badrinath Dham. Yamunotri is lying at the height of about 3293 meters in the heart of the mighty Garhwal Himalayas. Basically, this religious site is well-known for its thermal springs and glaciers.
The birthplace of Yamuna River is marked by a frozen lake called the Yamunotri Glacier (4421 meters above the sea level) or the Champasar Glacier. Adjacent to the river source of Yamuna is the Kalind Parvat which is dedicated to the Sun God, Surya who is her father. There is a magnificent temple of Goddess Yamuna that is 6 km far away from the glacier. It is the prime attraction of this ancient town. The temple is surrounded by the surreal glaciers, enormous mountain peaks, mountain range of Garhwal Himalayas, and the exquisite water of the glorious river Yamuna. This temple was constructed by Maharani Gularia of Jaipur in the 19th century. Thousands of Hindu pilgrimages come here to seek the blessings of the presiding deity of Goddess Yamuna that is resided in the form of Linga. This temple is set against the pristine backdrop of Bandarpunch Mountain which provides the picturesque views of the surrounding areas.
The Yamuna River is regarded as the second most sacred river after the Ganga River. As beliefs, the clear waters of this delightful river will wash away the sins of those who take a dip in this holy river and protect them from painful and untimely death.
