Itinerary Details

Upon arrival at Bagdogra Airport (IXB) / New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) / Tenzing Norgay Bus Stand (Junction), our tour representative will welcome you and drop you at the hotel in Gangtok. Here, register yourself at the reception and unwind yourself. The rest of the day is at your leisure.

Gangtok leaves you in awe of its tremendous natural beauty peppered with serene alpine lakes, salubrious weather, lofty Himalayan peaks, high mountain passes, vibrant Buddhist monasteries, and entrancing waterfalls. This pristine hill station is nestled in clouds and mountains. It also serves as a base for the trekkers yearning to trek the Himalayan mountain ranges.

After having tempting breakfast at the hotel, start your exciting trip to Tsomgo which is also called as Changu Lake. It is a glacial lake that derives its water from the melting snow of the mountains around it. This natural wonder is famous for its color-changing waters. The lake is considered as a sacred by the Sikkimese as well as holds immense religious and cultural significance to the Bhutia people. It is perched between the mountains at a height of 12400 ft above sea level.

You can also opt for a day tour to Nathu La which is a high mountain pass in the Himalayan that co-joins China and Sikkim. It is counted as one of the highest motorable roads in the world and located on the Indo-Tibetan border at the height of 14550 ft above sea level. This pass is popular for its scenic beauty, pleasant environment, picturesque views, delightful snow peaks, and much more.

Note: Excursion to Nathu La is an optional tour. It can be arranged for Indian Nationals only at an additional cost (except on Mon, Tue).

After that, pay homage at the Baba Mandir, also known as the Baba Harbhajan Singh Temple. This shrine was built at the samadhi of Harbhajan Singh and is bounded by magnificent mountains that offer stunning views to the visitors. He was a brave Indian soldier who died in a war near the Nathu La. People worship him as a saint who protects the lives of soldiers along the border.

In the evening, explore the Mall Road or M.G Road or other local markets. This road is lined up with shops, hotels, restaurants and much more. Tourists can take a leisurely stroll, revel in the eclectic ambiance or sit on the benches and simply unwind.

After an adventurous day, return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

On day 3 of your blissfull Sikkim Darjeeling tour, have scrumptious breakfast at the hotel and embark on the sightseeing tour of Gangtok. Start with Tashi View Point from where you can enjoy an enchanting view of the magnificent Mount Kanchenjunga, Mount Sinilochu and other snow-capped mountains as well. The ambiance of this place is filled with peace and harmony. Thus, it is considered as a fabulous picnic place for locals and tourists.

Now, pay homage at Ganesh Tok, a small temple which is situated on the top of a hill and is famous for its mind-stirring views. From this place, you will see the Kanchenjunga Peak in its true form of glory. This temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha.

After that, seek the blessings at Hanuman Tok which is situated near Ganesh Tok and is dedicated to Lord Hanuman. It is famous for the spectacular sunrise views and the diverse beauty of this site is sure to leave you speechless.

Next, proceed towards Ranka Monastery, also called as the Lingdum Monastery. It follows the Zurmang Kagyud lineage of Buddhism. It is considered as one of the most glorious and significant monasteries in East Sikkim. Also, this place offers fantastic scenic views to the tourists and is the shooting site of several Bollywood movies.

Thereafter, visit Rumtek Monastery which is one of the most significant and largest monasteries in Sikkim. It is also called as the Dharma Chakra Centre. This monastery belongs to the Kargyu sect of Buddhists. It is blessed with green mountains, beautiful temples, breathtaking views of the entire Gangtok town and is also a storehouse of many unique objects like statues, decorated splendid murals, and thangkas.

Subsequently, you move to explore beautiful Banjhakri Falls which is a natural waterfall and originates from the springs that are located at a higher altitude. Tourists can admire the beauty of the waterfall, capture the beautiful pictures and spend a gala time with their loved ones.

Also, move to the Cottage Industry which was built-in 1957. The main purpose of this industry is to promote the manufacturing and sale of local handicrafts, furniture and carpets. This industry also makes hand-carved foldable wooden tables, masks, woolen carpets, dolls, handmade paper, etc.

Later on, you will pay the respect at Dro-Drul Chorten which is nestled in the stunning valleys of Gangtok. It is one of the most important stupas in Sikkim. It has around 108 prayer wheels or Mani Lhakor and these wheels are embossed with important mantras which can be chanted while rotating them. The calmness and serenity of this place attract devotees and tourists.

Then, head towards Institute of Tibetology. This place promotes the study, research and preserves the glorious past of Tibetan history, literature, religion, architecture, philosophy, etc. Also, it holds manuscripts, statues, rare literacy works, art pieces, and encyclopedia.

Now, see the delightful Flower Show. People are welcomed by hundreds of sweet-smelling and vibrant flower species. It is heaven for all nature lovers.

In the evening, visit the Handicraft Centre. This center has a museum that showcases many items and ethnic artworks which are created by the local artists and artisans.

Later, go back to the hotel for a relaxing overnight stay.

It is known to offer the breathtaking sight of the Kanchenjunga and the neighboring peaks like Zopuno, Kumbhakarna, Rathong, Pandim, Sinolchu, etc. It is a perfect destination for all adventure enthusiasts and nature lovers as they can partake in mountain biking, white-water rafting, village tours, rock climbing, meditation, kayaking, trekking, etc here. It is initially covered with wild thick forest which is home to many indigenous wild animals.

Wake up early in the morning and head towards Tiger Hill. Visitors come here to see the mesmerizing sunrise views. Here, they will see the sun rising from the mountains which is followed by a panoramic view of the majestic peaks of Kanchenjunga. It is the highest point in Darjeeling and is situated at an elevation of 8482 above the sea level.

Afterward, go back to Darjeeling. En route, visit Ghoom Monastery which is perched at an altitude of 8000 ft. above sea level and also known as Yogachoeling Gompa. It is the storehouse of some rare Buddhist manuscripts and has become popular amongst people seeking peace and serenity. It offers magnificent views of the snow-capped peaks including Kanchenjunga.

Then, take a ride on a toy train around Batasia Loop. Titled as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the train allows you to enjoy the mesmerizing views of the mountains, delightful surroundings, tea plantations, rare species of plants, etc

After reaching the hotel, have a yummy breakfast and leave to explore the most scenic attractions in Darjeeling. Firstly, you will be visiting the Natural History Museum. It has an exhaustive collection of almost 4300 specimens including rare birds, fishes, reptiles, mammals, insects, etc. It has also the collection of birds' nests and their eggs that are preserved.

Next, move to the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute which is one of the prominent mountaineering institutes in the world. The main objective of this institute is to encourage and promote mountaineering amongst youths of the country.

Then, head towards the Parmesan Nadia Himalayan Zoological Park which is the largest high altitude zoo and is also called as the Darjeeling Zoo. It is the home to animals such as blue sheep, sambar deer, barking deer, Himalayan Tahr, musk deer, goral, etc. One can also spot some endangered species like red panda, Tibetan wolf, snow leopard, yaks, Siberian tigers, etc. that are rarely seen anywhere else in the world.

Now, you will be moving to the Tibetan Refugee Self Help Center which is a rehabilitation center for the Tibetan refugees. The main aim of this center is to promote the principle of self-help so as to become self-independent.

Thereafter, take an enchanting ride on a ropeway in Darjeeling. It is India's first cable car system and was set up to reach the tea gardens in the valleys. The gondola moves at a moderate speed allowing tourists to see the mesmerizing views of snow-capped peaks of Himalayas and gives brilliant photo opportunities.

Then, see tea estates in Darjeeling. Tea Estates are spread over seven valleys which cover a majority of the area of the Darjeeling Hills. Here, you can learn about the tea processing technique and take a stroll through the tea gardens, etc.

Now, pay a visit to Peace Pagoda which is a Buddhist stupa and is open for people belonging to any religion. The main purpose of this place to propagate prosperity and peace in the world. This place is well-known for its breathtaking views of snowy peaks, tranquility, pleasant climate, calmness, etc.

At last, see Tensing-Gumbo Rocks. The left face or left side of the Tenzing Rock is used by the professional rock climbers as well as the trainees whereas the right side is used by amateur climbers or tourists climbers. On the other hand, Gombu Rock is quite steep and rises above from the road level. Also, it does not look dangerous like Tenzing Rock.
