This is the jewel of the Shekhawati region. This quaint little town was the stopover for the traders and merchants in the old days. The majestic Havelis and forts of this city will take you to the bygone era of the royal rendition.

The Mandawa tour cannot be completed without visiting the Mandawa Fort. Built-in the 18th century by Nawal Singh, the Mandawa fort is the most attractive destination of this sleepy town. You will witness intricate carvings on the stone in this beautiful fort. As you enter the Mandawa Fort, a beautiful painted and arched gateway with images of Lord Krishna playing with his cows welcomes you. The beauty of this archway will leave you mesmerized. The fort was built with a view of protecting the traveling caravans of traders who traveled from China to the Middle East on the silk route. There is a Durbar hall which houses some of the finest paintings in Rajasthan.

The Havelis of Mandawa are exquisite and no Mandawa itinerary can be completed without visiting these architectural wonders. The Havelis dotted with the wall paintings on their outside walls, which have stood the test of time and are still draw jaw-dropping reactions from travelers. The Sewaram Saraf haveli is one of the most picturesque Havelis in Mandawa. Maybe this is the reason why many Bollywood movies like PK, Mirza Sahiban and Bajrangi Bhaijan have been shot here. The haveli houses many drool-worthy paintings which will help in satisfying the artistic bug in you. The Murmuria haveli is a well-known haveli in Mandawa for paintings of famous leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru. A famous painting where he is seen sitting on a horse and carrying the tricolor is situated in this haveli. Built-in the 1930’s in the traditional Rajasthani style of architecture, the Murmuria haveli is one of the finest specimens of art and architecture in Mandawa.

The Hanuman Prasad Goenka Haveli is another beautiful haveli with beautiful and colorful artwork donning the outside walls of the haveli. The palace gives the feeling of royalty with paintings of elephants welcoming you on the main gate. As with all the Havelis in this list, this haveli also contains exceptional paintings, the most famous of them being Lord Indra on his Airavat. Another painting worth seeing in the Hanuman Prasad Goenka Haveli is the painting of Lord Shiva on Nandi. One of the most majestic Havelis of Mandawa includes the Gulab Rai Ladia Haveli which will remind you of the old movies, where you could see a Haveli so big that it would fill the entire screen with its grandeur. The Haveli still holds some of its old-world charms.

Another architectural marvel of Mandawa is Bansidhar Nevatia haveli. It will leave you to stun with its stupendous architecture and artwork. You will get a glimpse of the colorful Rajasthani culture in this haveli, as it is painted all over the walls of the haveli. The quality of the material used is amazing as even the infamous Rajasthan heat has not been able to fade the bright colors of the figures used in the wall paintings. You can still see figures of Lord Rama, Lord Shiva and Rajasthani ladies with vivid detail.

The presence of all these magnificent Havelis makes your sightseeing in Mandawa memorable. Along with the Havelis and the fort, you can also try the desert safari in Mandawa and it is one of the famous circuits of camel safari.
