Kaziranga is an untamed sanctuary and National Park in the North-Eastern state of Assam. The Kaziranga National Park is situated on the plains between the Karbi Anglong plateau and the mighty Brahmaputra and is the home of the famous one-horned rhinoceros housing almost two-thirds of the world’s Rhinoceros population. Kaziranga is one of the only reserves in the world where they thrive but are still an endangered species.

From Assam’s capital, Guwahati, Kaziranga National park is about 240 Km but much closer to Tezpur’s Salonibari Airport. The drive from the airport to Kaziranga is a picturesque road trip in itself, with paddy fields, lush greenery, and the Grand Brahmaputra forming an excellent vista. With the Kaziranga trip packages, tourists can get an opportunity to glare at the enchanting sites of this beautiful place. The cascading yellow flowers of the golden shower tree or purging cassia trees lining the highway are a lovely sight to behold. Once you reach the suburbs of the Golaghat district, the tea gardens form an impressive green carpet over the Karbi Anglong slopes.

Kaziranga National Park is characterized by the tall elephant grass that grows as tall as 8 feet forming ideal shrubbery for predators. The dense forests to afford good foliage for varieties of flora including rare orchids, birds, and fauna to proliferate. The marshy banks of the Brahmaputra are populated by species of amphibians and reptiles including the famous Gharial Crocodile and Assam roofed turtle. The rare monocled Cobra, the reticulated python, Russell’s viper and the common Krait are just a few of the reptile species in the Park. Other fauna includes the Royal Bengal Tiger, bears, panthers and deer. Hoolock Gibbons is also a rare species found only in these parts along with plenty of varieties of birds. Kaziranga has a tiger population of over a hundred that can best be spotted near the watering holes while traversing the park by jeep. The four zones of Kaziranga can be covered in a day with breaks for breakfast and lunch. A good choice of forest resorts and tea garden resorts in Kaziranga affords a good place to rest and are infused with the night sounds of the jungle.

Kaziranga holiday packages allow the tourists to experience the best of Kaziranga safaris and elephant rides. Sitting high above the level of the elephant grass, one gets a bird’s-eye view, so much easier to spot the herds of rhinos and a tiger or two. The safaris start from the early hours by 5.30 am, when you are most likely to catch the great predators hunting for their day’s meal and the birds come out in flocks.

IVPL (IndianVisit) offers a wide range of customized Kaziranga holiday packages with which people can enjoy the stays in the tea estates around Kaziranga. Experience the stilt constructed bamboo estate homes perched high above the surrounding tea plantations. Occasional rains keep the place cool and wet while perpetual mist keeps the far distances a mystery. The tribal tea pickers in their traditional garb dotting the hillsides give us a peek into the life of the locals.

Assam receives almost the highest rainfall in India often resulting in landslides and floods from June to October. It is better to avoid visiting this season. November through May would be the best months to make a Kaziranga tour. The Kaziranga National Park is usually open from the first of November till the end of April.

Kaziranga safaris are well arranged by tour operators running elephant and jeep safaris. With our tour packages, you can get an experienced guide that will take you through the safari and show you the best places where wildlife frequent. Our Kaziranga tour packages in conjunction with the jungle safaris are the best combination for a memorable Kaziranga trip.
