Kurfi is situated at about 20 km from Shimla. It is a beautiful hill station nestled in the foothills of the mighty Himalaya in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. Located at a height of 2,290 meters above the sea level, this quaint little hill station offers picturesque views, stunning locales, and adventure activities. Kufri Himachal is famous for its pleasant atmosphere in the summer and beautiful snow-laden peaks in winters. The origin of its name ‘Kufri’ is derived from the local word ‘kufr’ which means 'lake'. The highest altitude in the surrounding area is also known for the Himalayan forest life, where you can easily see the rare Antelope, including the Monal. Further, exciting trekking can be done along the mountain trails here. 

Kurfi has a history associated with that of Shimla. It was founded by the British in the year 1819. Tourists visit this part of Himachal Pradesh to indulge in adventure activities in the winter and the summer. The tourists came here to relax from the hustle-bustle of city life. 

Amid the Himalayan ranges, the weather is always pleasant throughout the year. Kufri Himachal can be visited at any time of the year. During summers, this beautiful hill station lures a large number of tourists from all over the country. Due to its high altitude, the monsoon is usually very pleasant here. During the winter, this region receives a good amount of snowfall and it is a paradise for skiing enthusiast who wishes to enjoy the activities like skiing, etc.

Distinct from Shimla, Kufri is known for its less population and colonial architecture. Not only in winter but the adventure activities can be enjoyed here during the summer season as well. In summers, you can walk or trek along the trails, indulge in nature photography, etc. The Himalayan wildlife Sanctuary, Indira Tourist Park, Chini Bungalow, Kufri Fun World, Mahasu Peak, Himalayan Nature Park, etc. are some of the most popular tourist attractions in Kufri.

Indira Tourist Park is a place near Himalayan National Park, where you can feel refreshed and remove the exhaustion from your body. For all ages, a yak and pony rides are the main attraction of the park. The park has a video game parlor, bar, an ice cream parlor and HPTDC runs fine cafes. Indira-Tourist Park is only 19 km away from Shimla.

Mahasu Peak is one of the best places in Kufri Himachal. It is the highest place in the region from where you can get some of the most beautiful visuals like the Badrinath and Kedarnath ranges. If you like to do the adventure, you can be able to walk through the dense forests of the deodar to reach its point. It is a great place for skiing in Kufri during the early part of the winter season. You can also visit the Nag Devta temple on this journey.
