Subhash Baoli Dalhousie

Subhash Baoli is a charismatic tourist spot enveloped by tall towering pine trees. It is one of the most popular tourist spots of Dalhousie owing to the natural spectacle of the place and the beautiful views of the snowcapped peaks. It has been named after Subhash Chandra Bose, the famous freedom fighter. Subhash Baoli Dalhousie is the place where Subhash Chandra Bose sat and meditated while he was staying at Dalhousie. As a tribute to him, this place was named as Subhash Baoli. The same historical location has seating arrangements now, where tourists can sit and enjoy the natural beauty of the overlooking mountains.

Subhash Chandra Bose came to Dalhousie in May 1937 to recuperate and stayed at a house named Kynance. It was an old building carrying the heritage features of buildings built in 1933 and looked like a timber-framed farmhouse of 16th Century England.

Bose spent more than five months in Dalhousie, from May to October in 1937. He used to walk daily for over 2 km - coming and going back to Kynance - sit and meditate twice a day by the side of a perennial spring, whose water had a curing effect on him. The prime reason for him to meditate at this Baoli was the scenic backdrop and incredible surroundings. It has a beautiful backdrop of the amazing Himalayan peaks. The nearby region of the Baoli is bordered by the towering oak trees that add more charm to it. There is a waterfall located nearby whose gushing waters can be heard from a great distance. Some streams also flow in nearby woods that make this place appropriate for spending some time away from the busy cities. Later this place was named Subhash Baoli.

In Subhash Baoli Dalhousie Himachal Pradesh you will find a large plaque that bears his story. He was very attached to this area and when he died, a small shelter was built here in his memory. Anyone inspired by either him or the surroundings, or even both, can sit here and find peace. The seating arrangements in this place allow you to sit and enjoy the natural panorama of the overlooking mountains which brings peace and tranquility to your mind. The majestic mountains and the canopy of the blue sky reverberate the memory of the great hero of Indian independence. A famous tourist spot in Dalhousie, Subhash Baoli is a place where you can enjoy and experience the natural beauty of the snowcapped peaks without any disturbance.
