Panjim or Panaji the capital city of Goa is an exciting place to visit. Located on the bank of the river Mandovi, this is one of the most relaxed state capitals in India. The Latin Quarter of Fontainhas was founded by a Portuguese colonialist in the late 18th century. It is located at the foot of the Altinho Hill. While walking on its narrow streets lined with houses with red-tiled roofs, you may feel like walking in a Mediterranean town. Here the Portuguese signs are retained as nowhere else.

Located on top of the Altinho hillock, the Maruti temple overlooks the Fontainhas district in Panaji. The temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman, the monkey god where s Lord Hanuman is worshiped every day.  At night, the beautifully lit up Maruti temple is visible from a distance. 

The Church of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception is also known as the Panaji Church. It is located at the center of Panaji city near the Municipal Garden. Built in 1541, the church served the religious needs of Portuguese sailors as they arrived in the city.

Panaji is also a grand culinary capital. The city practices centuries-old culinary tradition that include both the spicy traditional Goan cuisine and Portuguese favorites.
